The feel of American denim is something that draws people from around the world. I’ve known this for years — probably was most obvious once I had friends in other parts of the world. US pop culture tends to travel well along with our fashion — especially cotton. So it was no surprise when I saw an ad in the Cologne, Germany train station featuring Levi’s Justin Timberlake Fresh Leaves, a new line of denim and other cotton clothing.
JT has created a sense of style that is casual, comfortable and by and large or course, cotton. We’ve seen it over the years as he’s taken the stage for concerts, TV shows and movies. When I first saw ads a few weeks ago, my first thought was the brand is it looks like real people — and lots of them — would wear them and enjoy them. And for a celebrity line of clothing, that isn’t as common as it should be.
I mean, he’s got fitted jeans in the lineup — slim but not the skinny jeans that so many guys I know would mock but that look so much nicer than the baggy jeans some wear. There are flannel shirts and jackets which look like they actually get worn while having fun actually doing something outside.
It seems the clothes have struck quite a few folks too because a lot of the styles are already sold out! Guessing people will be finding cotton gifts under their Christmas trees.
I Buried the Lead
See, not only do I love JT’s music like so many people, we both routinely share our love for the 901. You may remember that 901 is the area code for my hometown of Memphis — Justin grew up in a nearby ‘burb. He’s shown his love for Memphis TIgers basketball (the school four generations of my family have attended) and of course he is frequently refered to by his initials. I think maybe he should set up a JTlovesCOTTON Twitter handle!
(PS — I loved my trip to Germany for work & took vacation while there too. I’ll be writing various thoughts about the trip on my other blog. Subscribe at JPlovesLIFE to make sure you catch all the posts on the trip! And if you haven’t subscribed to Hundred Percent Cotton, what are you waiting for? it’s above right if you don’t see the pop up.)Wanna help me catch JT's eye with the suggestion?
